    Candlelit concert for Earth Hour, inspired by John Ruskin

    Earth Hour Candlelit Concert Saturday March 22nd , 8.30-9.30pm St Giles Church, Camberwell, SE5 8RB Tickets: £12 (£5 concessions) Experience an Earth Hour like no other with a spellbinding candlelit concert by members of Orchestra for the Earth, a musical and environmental charity. Join WWF's global 'lights-out' under the magnificent backlit East Window of St Giles Church, designed by famous South London resident and pioneering environmental campaigner, John Ruskin. Share Ruskin’s love of nature and the Alps through a gorgeous programme of music by Mahler and Richard Strauss, who also took inspiration from the mountains. The concert will be interwoven with insights from Ruskin's works given by Andrew Hill, Financial Times journalist and author of 'Ruskinland: How John Ruskin Shapes Our World'.     Improve your swimming technique and meet other Brockwell Swimmers at our Monday swim sessions, 8:30pm to 9:30pm at the indoor Alleyns School pool, Townley Rd, Dulwich SE22 8SU. All evenings are led by two qualified instructors teaching a range of skills from inter-mediate to masters. Adults 18+ welcome. Sessions are sold in blocks of six at £12 each. Current block runs every Monday 31st March to 19th May.

    Springtime Embroidery Workshop: Stitching Folklore & Nature

    Come stitch your own piece of springtime magic! Relax on a Sunday afternoon, learn simple sewing techniques and connect with the healing plants and rich botanical folklore of Britain! In this relaxing and creative workshop, we will explore the symbolism and historical uses of four British springtime plants: daffodil, snake’s head fritillary, bluebell, and yarrow. These plants are celebrated for their connections to healing and protection, perfect for the changing of the seasons! Using simple embroidery techniques, participants will stitch a spring meadow illustration, learning a variety of embroidery stitches such as backstitch, whipped stitch and French knots. The design will be framed within the hoop, allowing you to take home a beautiful, nature-inspired ornament that can be displayed as a decorative piece. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some embroidery experience. All materials will be provided. BOOK HERE

    Throwing on a batt: A one-day intermediate level weekend workshop led by Birgit Pohl Learn how to attach a wooden batt to the wheel head. Practice a variety of flatware shapes on the batt. Immerse yourself in throwing on the wheel for a full day! You can choose up to three pots which will be trimmed, glazed and fired for you. Please note  This intermediate level course will not cover centring or pulling up. Participants must be able to centre 1kg of clay before signing up to the course.     Join us on Sunday 13 April for a family day in Windmill Gardens. We’ll be running a treasure hunt for children with a chocolate treat to find (£2.50 suggested donation) from 1.30pm.  Free Easter themed craft workshops will run at the centre all afternoon. Our cafe and shop will be open and we are hoping for a sunny spring day to enjoy the park and windmill together. The windmill is open for guided tours from 1pm to 5pm so you could combine your visit with a tour if you like!
