An hour long  lively combination of comedy, song and dance, and serious comment on food poverty. Suitable for all ages. Join us for a pre-loved clothing swap and mending session. Bring the clothes you have buried at the back of your wardrobe, pass them on to a new owner and find something for yourself, too. The focus of the event is sustainable fashion, so we will have drop-in mending sessions facilitated by lovely people who can share their skills and tips. Guidelines For the Stitch: This is your chance to fix the clothes you want to keep, but need a little extra love & attention. Friendly helpers will be on hand to guide you - whether it’s sewing up hems, buttons or doing some visible mending. Basic resources will be provided but if you might need anything else (buttons, zips etc), please bring them! For the Switch: Please bring as many items as you like - we welcome clothing of all genders and sizes. You will then receive a token for each piece of clothing you have contributed. From 1:30pm, you will have the opportunity to choose something new - 1 token for each new item. Throwing Bottles – with Clare Spindler – a two day weekend workshop for adults at the Bell House Pottery

A two day weekend workshop for intermediate level students at the Bell House Pottery Dates Saturday 15 June & Sunday 16 June 2024, 11am – 5pm Cost  £250 for two full days. Two half-price concession places are also available. Programme This two-day, intermediate-level course will introduce students to techniques for making bottles and vases. Day 1 will include throwing taller cylinders; collaring in and bellying out; combining these skills to create bottle or vase forms. Day 2 will cover trimming techniques, including the use of chucks. You can choose up to six pots which will be glazed and fired for you. Please note that This course will not cover the basics of centering, pulling up or trimming. Participants need to be comfortable with these skills before signing up to the course. The teacher - Clare Spindler  Clare’s creative focus is functional ceramics in stoneware and porcelain, fired in oxidation and reduction. While the majority of Clare’s work is wheel-thrown, she also produces decorative pieces combining thrown, altered and hand-built components. Clare is the studio manager at In Production from Turning Earth, a communal studio for professional makers based in Leyton. She is also a teacher at Turning Earth and Crown Works Pottery.
