Come and join us at the Herne Hill community tent, every other Sunday at the Herne Hill market. Summer Music in Ruskin Park – South London Jazz Orchestra

We are happy to announce our lineup for the Summer Music Bandstand Concerts. These will be on every other Sunday on the Bandstand from 3-5pm with free entry for all.   SUNDAY 26 SEPTEMBER – SOUTH LONDON JAZZ ORCHESTRA The South London Jazz Orchestra is possibly the world’s biggest regularly performing big band.  Settle back for two hours of the finest charts from the history of jazz – from the swing era through funk, soul and right up to the present day.

These will be on every other Sunday on the Bandstand from 3-5pm with free entry for all.   SUNDAY 17 OCTOBER  – CRYSTAL PALACE BAND Crystal Palace Band was founded in 1901 as the Upper Norwood Temperance Prize Band changing its’ name to The Crystal Palace Band in 1924 on becoming the band in residence at Crystal Palace. With over 30 musicians playing a variety of events and contests throughout the year.

Festival for Young People

The REACH (Risk, Resilience, Ethnicity, and AdolesCent Mental Health) team at King’s College London. We have been working closely with young people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds in south London to support mental health in contexts of poverty, racism, and discrimination. Our research shows that 1 in 5 young people in south London experience mental health problems – much higher than the national average of 1 in 10. REACH are bringing young people together to discuss their experiences during the pandemic and, most importantly, what we need to do now to enable young people to thrive. To support this, we are hosting a Young Persons Festival (see poster attached), in collaboration with the Big Kid Foundation, on Wednesday 27th of October at Dexter’s Adventure Playground in Brixton. REACH understands the importance of including young people in conversations surrounding their own futures. In bringing young people together, we’re hoping to amplify their voices and opinions to help shape mental health, education and government policies directly affecting young people. It is only through their thoughts, opinions, and voices, that steps towards positive change are made possible and this one of the purposes of our Festival.
