Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses Brockwell Park, Herne Hill, London, United Kingdom

Americana Nominated Artist of The Year 2023 Lady Nade is continuing her rise as a multi-award winning eclectic Folk and Americana singer-songwriter. Her third album ‘Willing’ entered both the official Folk and Americana charts on its release. The title track Single won‘UK song of the Year’ in the 2022 UK Americana Awards. Her songs carry messages of love, loss, hope, relationships, friendships and the positive connection between music, well-being. We heard Lady Nade perform live at Bush Hall earlier in 2023 and although we already loved her recordings, her live performance blew us away.  Do not miss! We put on our Gigs at the Greenhouses to let people hear brilliant music, enjoy our lovely gardens and to raise money so that the community can benefit from BPCG seven days a week. Timings: Doors open: 5.30pm First set: 6pm – 6.40pm, Break (and food served): 6.40pm – 7.15pm Second set: 7.15 – 8pm Food & Drink Delicious home-made hot food, botanical cocktails, local craft beer and organic wine will be on sale. 16 November 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Herne Hill Baptist Church Half Moon Lane, London, United Kingdom

Singing Mamas is all about taking care of the women who spend so much time being busy taking care of others. It's all about making YOU feel good. There are no auditions, no solos, no reading music. Just simple songs taught by ear, with the aim to reduce stress, connect with others, build community, and improve wellbeing. Oh, and there's always tea and cake, too. No prior musical experience is needed - we sing for connection, not for perfection! Mums, grandmas, bumps, babies, older children, and women without kids are all welcome. We meet at the Coffee Lounge in Herne Hill Baptist Church on Half Moon Lane every Thursday from 10-11.30am. If for some reason you can't make that session, we also have groups on Tuesdays in Streatham Vale in the Vestry room adjoining the Holy Redeemer Church, also at 10-1130am. You can book a taster session at www.georgialadbury.com/singing - or if you're 36+ weeks pregnant, sessions are free. We strongly believe that everyone should have access to the benefits of singing, so please get in touch if you feel there are barriers to joining the group (inc financial) so we can help find a solution.

Crime and anti-social behaviour public meeting

    5 December 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Baptist Church 34A Half Moon Lane, London, United Kingdom

There has been a marked upturn in crime and anti-social behaviour in recent months. From shop-lifting through to car crime, thefts from doorsteps and muggings for mobile phones. The Herne Hill Forum has organised a public meeting to highlight these issues and to find out what is being done to combat them. We will have representatives from the Police, Councillors (Lambeth and Southwark), rough sleeping outreach teams and the safer neighbourhood panel. We are also collating in advance the key issues that have affected people so we can make sure that they are addressed at the meeting. If you have experienced any specific issue or are aware of problems in the Herne Hill area then please let us know by emailing in to info@hernehillforum.org.uk. As we are expecting a high turnout we are asking people to book via Eventbrite to let us know you will be attending. Together as a community we can really make a difference to how things are tackled, your support is really important in making this happen. If you can help with the meeting, maybe book people in, hand out tea and coffee or help with publicity then please let us know, we welcome more volunteers. Book a free...
