    Help save Off The Cuff Music Bar by coming to BANDATHON - a free community music event. The music is a blend of youth and adult acts. The youths come from JOM Youth Open Mic - the free, award-winning open mic held once a month at OTC. The adult acts are mainly local. Grammy award winner La Roux will do a special DJ set. Comedian Kerry Godliman will guest compere from 12-2pm. Roger Humbles’ Heads Up Jazz Group are on the main stage at 6.30pm. Plus Ramfunk, The 49’ers, Shut Up Sally, Betty Ablett, Bugeye, Jack Tyson Charles. It’s all for free - All you have to do to help save Off The Cuff is buy a drink at the bar. This free event will include: A clothes swap – bring your unwanted items and refresh your wardrobe, any left over items will be donated to Traid Drop in session for repairing much loved clothing items Workshops on tool sharpening and making nettle thread An opportunity to find out all about Brixton Remakery’s ‘Materials Garden’ Book a free ticket here or drop in on the day.

About L'Arche Our Community includes over 30 people with learning disabilities, who we support at home and in our workshops. We also have a wide-ranging programme of day activities, which is open to people with disabilities living in or outside L’Arche.     Thanks to your support on the crowdfunder we are pleased to say that the free family Herne Hill Halloween Celebration will take place this year on 31st October. If you haven’t donated anything yet, you can still add your magic coins to our cauldron as we haven’t yet reached our target. The event takes place from 5 – 7pm on Thursday 31st October in Station Square and upstairs in Station Hall. The road will be closed to traffic from 3pm on the day and should re-open by 8:30pm.     Sunday 2 March, 12noon to 3pm Is your New Year’s resolution to get more involved with your local community? Have you been to one of our events and wondered what volunteering with us might be like? Or perhaps you have a passion for local history and bringing stories to life? We’re hosting a Volunteering Open Day on Sunday 2 March. Sign up for a free ticket via eventbrite here: Pop in anytime between 12noon and 3pm to say hello to our team, find out more about the roles we have on offer and hear about plans for this year.  There will also be some mini tours of the mill plus hot drinks and baked treats made with our flour. We are currently looking for more tour guides, millers, gardeners and cafe helpers. We welcome young people and can help with volunteering programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

    Gig at the Greenhouses: Mambista with Alvorada

    Mambista is back in the summer sun at the Greenhouses this year with an incredible line up of local talent and legendary musicians. Join us in the garden for music, food and drink amongst the flowers.  Our first gig of the summer is with Alvorada. Alvorada are the UK’s leading performers of choro – a gorgeous form of instrumental acoustic music from Rio de Janeiro. The band features top musicians from London and Brazil, whose diverse backgrounds – including jazz, classical and Brazilian music – make for a unique and innovative sound. Check out their second album release “Faz Tempo” via alvoradamusic.com. Alvorada are perfect for the ambiance and natural beauty provided by BPCG’s Plum Tree “stage”. One not to miss!     Gong Bath Fundraiser – Sound Healing and Meditation

    Temporary photo exhibition about Brockfest - a free community youth music festival held at Brockwell Hall in September featuring 121 artists from a local youth open mic. All photos by student live music photographers. Opening day only (10-5pm, 30th Nov) features elements of the bespoke speaker array used in the festival. Live performances from singer songwriters (and Brockfest performers) Eva Witney and Betty Ablett on piano in the exhibition room. The 5 easel displays built especially for the photo exhibition will be donated to The Hall afterwards, as a platform for other community groups to tell their stories.
