Hop Skotshne are a fun and dynamic Klezmer band who play fabulous traditional Klezmer tunes. Their line-up consists of clarinet, trumpet, violin, French horn, accordion and poyk. The band take the authentic repertoire of Jewish wedding music from Eastern Europe, and add their unique and inventive interpretations. As the garden bursts into life, join us at the Greenhouses to get outside and celebrate spring! Bring your friends and family to enjoy spring inspired food and drink, have a dance, and enjoy music from the wonderful South East London Folk Orchestra, Raise the Roof Choir and more. There will also be craft activities, plant trails, and more ways to celebrate nature during this wonderful season! We’ll have a hot lunch, tea and cakes, botanical cocktails, local craft beer and organic wine available in the barn. Mambista is back in the summer sun at the Greenhouses this year with an incredible line up of local talent and legendary musicians. Join us in the garden for music, food and drink amongst the flowers. Our first gig of the summer is with Alvorada. Alvorada are the UK’s leading performers of choro – a gorgeous form of instrumental acoustic music from Rio de Janeiro. The band features top musicians from London and Brazil, whose diverse backgrounds – including jazz, classical and Brazilian music – make for a unique and innovative sound. Check out their second album release “Faz Tempo” via alvoradamusic.com. Alvorada are perfect for the ambiance and natural beauty provided by BPCG’s Plum Tree “stage”. One not to miss! BROCKFEST is an end of the summer free musical festival at Brockwell Hall in Brockwell Park SE24, produced by Junior Open Mic (JOM), featuring 31 remarkable youth acts, a bespoke sound system (tested and approved by sound engineer Tim Pennells (Morcheeba, Arlo Parks, Floating Points), Emmy award-winning sound engineering, a young entrepreneur’s market, licensed bar and food stalls. All happening in the new Brockwell Hall SE24 Herne Hill Forum is pleased to be a community partner for this event along with Herne Hill Music Festival, JOM and Lambeth Council. Some really great acts will be on show for BROCKFEST; some have played Herne Hill Music Festival in the recent past as JOM has been a final Sunday Fest fixture until this year. Opening Herne Hill Music Festival 2025 on Friday evening, 10th October at The Half Moon is South London-based jazz singer and songwriter Nel Begley. A graduate of both Leeds Conservatoire and Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Nel blends classic jazz influences with a contemporary edge, delivering soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics that captivate audiences. Her band on the night will feature Honey Boulton (one of London’s premier guitarists and banjoists), the remarkably versatile Harry Brunt on saxophone and, on bass, her partner in both music and life, Luke Fowler. Nel will be launching her brand-new album ‘Small Flame’. Temporary photo exhibition about Brockfest - a free community youth music festival held at Brockwell Hall in September featuring 121 artists from a local youth open mic. All photos by student live music photographers. Opening day only (10-5pm, 30th Nov) features elements of the bespoke speaker array used in the festival. Live performances from singer songwriters (and Brockfest performers) Eva Witney and Betty Ablett on piano in the exhibition room. The 5 easel displays built especially for the photo exhibition will be donated to The Hall afterwards, as a platform for other community groups to tell their stories.
Get into the Christmas spirit and join us for a heartwarming afternoon of Slovak folk and sacred Christmas music, performed by singers Petra Štefancová and Mário Jakubicka. Visiting from the small village of Moravany, Slovakia, the duo are celebrated folk singers who perform sacred songs in churches across their homeland. Their rich vocal harmonies will be beautifully accompanied by cellist Nina Plapp and renowned Gypsy violinist Marian Bango, bringing the spirit of a Slovak village Christmas to life through music.
