70 years ago this month: 1948 Olympic track cycling at Herne Hill!

Herne Hill History via https://tommygodwinchallenge.weebly.com: 70 years ago this month (7th August) the Olympic track cycling programme began at Herne Hill Velodrome & GB team pursuit squad of Godwin, Ricketts, Geldard & Waters qualified for the semi-final after beating Canada & Denmark. Two days later Tommy Godwin won his first Olympic medal when GB beat Uruguay in the ride off for the bronze medal in a time of 4 minutes 55.8. Today’s World record for the event is a staggering 3.49.8!
