Better Fridays at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses

BETTER FRIDAYS at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses.

Got the winter blues? Feeling a bit low? Want to get out and enjoy nature?  Like to grow some vegetables, harvest and cook them?

Start 2018 the right way and volunteer with Link Age Southwark

Christmas is just around the corner, bringing with it the New Year and of course your new year’s resolutions. Make yours count this year by volunteering to prevent loneliness and isolation amongst older people in the local community.

Whether you visit someone for a cup of tea once a week, drive an older person to their exercise class or help at one of our activity groups, you will be making a huge difference to the life of an older person in Southwark and your own!

What’s most important for our local community centre?

St Faith’s is a vibrant community centre at the heart of our neighbourhood and we’d love your views about how to make it  an even better place to meet, learn and relax.

Situated at the bottom of Red Post Hill (just along the road from The Charter School), we offer groups and activities for all ages and interests. These include an older people’s art group, ballet classes, toddler drop-in sessions and a men’s group. We’ve got a beautiful hall for wedding receptions and parties and a big garden to explore nature.

Oxfam Shop Herne Hill needs help!

Hi all

Does anyone have a few hours a week they could possibly spare? The Oxfam shop in Herne Hill is one of our most successful shops - receiving some great donations and with lots of customers, but they are currently very short on volunteer numbers and the more successful the shop, the more volunteers that are needed to take in donations, work with customers and sort and price stock (mostly clothing - and some amazing items - so perfect if you love fashion)

Volunteer your skills in the park you love

Do you have (a little) spare time and skills to help keep Brockwell Park beautiful, sustainable and open to all?

Whether you have experience in IT, digging, fundraising, project management, writing or local history. And if you have hours to spare or just the odd slot of time, we’d love to hear from you.

Link Age Southwark is 'Charity of the Year'

Local East Dulwich charity Link Age Southwark has been awarded ‘Charity of the Year’ at the 2017 Southwark Stars awards. This award recognises the positive impact of Link Age Southwark’s work combatting isolation and loneliness for over 550 older people in Southwark. The annual Southwark Stars awards, organised by Community Southwark, celebrates the huge contribution of voluntary organisations to life in the Borough.

May Fete - Celebrating all things May

On Saturday May 6th between 1pm and 5pm, Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses invite you to come and celebrate the start of May.

There will be Maypole dancing, folk music, cob oven pizzas, home made cakes and biscuits, traditional games and crafts.

Maypole dancing will be on at 2pm and 3.30pm. All are welcome to join in.

There'll be acoustic music on throughout the afternoon scattered throughout the lovely gardens.

Volunteers needed to visit older people

Local charity Link Age Southwark is looking for new volunteers to befriend isolated older people. The charity, based in East Dulwich, has been recruiting volunteers to support older people across Southwark for 23 years.
