Great Turnout for Buster Keaton Silent - Sunday Market & Bandstand Next!

"Everyone is here!" exclaimed the Flower Lady when we had a quick word. And so it seemed ... the concourse was packed! The weather obliged and Neil Brand played his socks off for the 8:30 pm screening of Buster Keaton's 1926 late silent classic THE GENERAL. Later on today the celebrations continue with a bandstand (11am - 3pm) and the official opening of the Sunday market.

You can see a clip of Neil Brand talking about silent film in the square from an outside post on the Herne Hill Forum's Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Herne-Hill-Forum/455633790432

Last Gasp Reminder - THE GENERAL screens tonight, in the square, free!

We've had all sorts of players knocking out notes on the Herne Hill square's arcade piano, but tonight we'll have renown silent film accompanist Neil Brand playing along live to a public screening of Buster Keaton's 1926 silent classic! The film begins at 8pm with the possibility of some shorts ahead of that. Weather's perfect for it! Bring a folding chair, bring the family, bring yourself! Come out and help celebrate Herne Hill train station's 150 year anniversary. Special events carry on through tomorrow with the official opening of the Sunday Street Market in the same concourse area in front of the station, along with a bandstand being run by the Herne Hill Music Festival between 11am - 3pm with four acts on.
