Stan Tracey 'Godfather of British Jazz' opens Herne Hill Music Festival October 11th

On Thursday the 11th of October, the Godfather of British Jazz, Stan Tracey, will open the Herne Hill Music Festival as part of the Stan Tracey Trio.

Stan is a real South Londoner, born in Kings College Hospital, Denmark Hill, and raised in Tooting. Since then, his distinguished career has spanned six decades of flourishing creativity, through good times and bad, composing new material and playing with the likes of Ronnie Scott, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Gil Evans, and more recently with his son Clark and Jools Holland. From 'Stan Tracey is an outstanding figure in the jazz world. His distinguished career has spanned six decades of flourishing creativity. He has been a highly influential and stimulating musical voice, not only to his peers, but to each successive generation of musicians with whom he has worked'

Says Stan: "Somewhere deep inside the crusty old cynicism is still the bright-eyed lad thinking, "Hey this is great!"

As will you - a legend in his own time. Must-see gig!

Herne Hill Festival, Oct 11th from 21.00-23.00 at Jazz on the Hill, 214 Railton Road, SE24 0JT
