Seeking new, young musical performers for Sat 12th September

JOM is a community group, that organises free events for young people to perform. Since Covid we offer free online junior open mic sessions every month using Instagram LIVE. First-time performers are especially welcome. The format is non-competitive and aims to instill confidence by ensuring every performer feels as special as possible. JOM was started 4 years ago by Herne Hill primary school parents and has seen 300+ young performers aged between 4 and 17 take part in JOM events. Pre-Covid we organised free, professionally sound-engineered Junior Open Mics at Off The Cuff Music Bar and free mini-festivals in Brockwell Park using festival quality PAs and engineering. Young people who regularly take part at JOM events develop their musical talents at a pace they are in control of - with each event giving them something to improve for. Some decide to take their artistic journeys to remarkable places. Former JOM performers Play Dead (now all 15) are signed and their second release was played on Radio 1 last week. Singer/songwriter Sam Wilkinson won ITV’s The Voice Kids with his own song at the age of 14. The Honey Hahs (4 sisters signed with Rough Trade) play festivals across the U.K. during school holidays. If your son or daughter likes performing from behind the sofa to family and friends and would like to take one small step beyond that, we’d love to hear from you.
