SUMMARY:Lambeth Open 2023
DESCRIPTION:Explore your creative neighbourhood.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nOn the first weekend of October artists and crafts people across the borough of Lambeth will be opening their studio and work spaces to the public. Doors will be open from 10am to 6pm\, 7th and 8th October and admission will be free. \nDots will be added to our map as artists and makers sign up to this year’s event. Lambeth Open showcases the fantastic range of creative talent tucked away in our borough and is a great way to discover the various art spaces too often hidden in your neighbourhoods. \nVisitors will be able to see inside the artist’s studios and exhibition spaces for a unique personal insight into the individual technical processes. Private Views may be held at a number of exhibition spaces\, see venues for details. \n\nFEATURED ARTIST\nJORGE SANCHEZ works from his home in Herne Hill\, where he paints on canvas with acrylic and mixed media. His work\, mainly in abstract impressionist style\, reflects his fascination with texture and colour\, and includes real and imagined landscapes and woodland scenes inspired by his love of trees and open spaces\, as well as pure abstract forms. \nHis latest paintings adopt a square format ranging in size from 40×40 to 100x100cm. A picture framer as well as a painter\, he stretches and frames his own canvases. \n\nFEATURED ARTIST\nPRISCILLA WATKINS is inspired by regular swimming at Brockwell Lido. Her oil paintings are meditations on a theme of light and water\, and how the experience of swimming removes us for a moment from everyday life\, providing solace\, peace and a chance for recovery. \nShe also creates paper pools inspired by the characters she imagines in the water and will be selling copies of her popular linocut print Lido Steps. 10% off website prices for Open visitors. \n\nFEATURED ARTIST\nLUCY DUKE paints landscapes\, still life and interiors in watercolour\, pastel and oil pastel. All her works are made on paper and vary from small to large. There is a strong abstract quality to the work as she is interested in colour\, mark making and the qualities of light. Her work is held in many private collections around the world.

SUMMARY:Singing Mamas - South London
DESCRIPTION:Singing Mamas is all about taking care of the women who spend so much time being busy taking care of others. It’s all about making YOU feel good. There are no auditions\, no solos\, no reading music. Just simple songs taught by ear\, with the aim to reduce stress\, connect with others\, build community\, and improve wellbeing. Oh\, and there’s always tea and cake\, too.\n\nNo prior musical experience is needed – we sing for connection\, not for perfection! Mums\, grandmas\, bumps\, babies\, older children\, and women without kids are all welcome.\n\n \nWe meet at the Coffee Lounge in Herne Hill Baptist Church on Half Moon Lane every Thursday from 10-11.30am. If for some reason you can’t make that session\, we also have groups on Tuesdays in Streatham Vale in the Vestry room adjoining the Holy Redeemer Church\, also at 10-1130am.\n\nYou can book a taster session at www.georgialadbury.com/singing – or if you’re 36+ weeks pregnant\, sessions are free.\n\nWe strongly believe that everyone should have access to the benefits of singing\, so please get in touch if you feel there are barriers to joining the group (inc financial) so we can help find a solution.
