SUMMARY:Much Ado About Nothing in Windmill Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 20 July\, 6pm\nOpen Air Theatre in Windmill Gardens\nMuch Ado About Nothing with Open Bar Theatre \nBOOK HERE \nTickets £14 / £12 / £10 via www.brixtonwindmill.org \nShakespeare was master of the romcom\, and this is his finest: warring ex-lovers\, a ruined wedding\, and an aptly named villain\,  John the Bastard. Gossip\, wit and jealousy abound in this merry romp. Can everything be resolved by a bungling neighbourhood watch and one final piece of trickery? \nSix actors and Open Bar Theatre’s trademark two-storey set will take over Windmill Gardens for this hilarious\, fun Shakespearean classic this summer\, in full Elizabethan costume and with original songs by their resident composer that you’ll leave singing all summer long\, this is Shakespeare for everyone to enjoy\, from the aficionado to those who “don’t do Shakespeare”. \nBring a picnic or grab a drink from our licenced cafe at Brixton Windmill Centre and enjoy an evening of Shakespeare that is plenty of fun for all! \nRun time\nThe performance lasts approximately 2 hours including a 20 minute interval. \nAssistance dogs and well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

SUMMARY:Talk at BPCG | Fiona Davison: An Almost Impossible Thing
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate Fiona Davison’s aclaimed book An Almost Impossible Thing. The book follows six convention-busting women gardeners in the years before the First World War\, examining their lives in the context of suffragism\, collectivism and Empire. \n‘Gardening\, taken up as a hobby when all the laborious work can be done by a man\, is delightful\, but as a life’s work for a woman\, it is almost an impossible thing.’ Sir Joseph Hooker\, 1817-1911. \nWhile working at the Royal Horticultural Society\, Fiona Davison came across a cache of letters from a young gardener who was denied a fellowship because she was a woman. Appalled\, and intrigued to discover what became of Olive\, Fiona began researching the wider story of early female professional gardeners whose struggles changed forever the rights and opportunities for women gardeners. \nTickets are Pay What You Can from £7 | Find out more and book here

SUMMARY:Taste & Talk | Wine & Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:Spend an evening with us in the Greenhouse tasting delicious wines and learning all about the wine industry’s response to climate change\, all accompanied by tasty tapas from the BPCG gardens.  \nWith climate change accelerating at an alarming pace\, the business of growing grapes for wine is a precarious one. Many grapes can only thrive within narrow climate parameters\, so wine makers from the UK and across the world are having to rapidly adapt as well as trying to improve their own relationship with the environment. \nLiam from Wild + Lees will share six wines that tell of the challenges (and\, in some cases\, opportunities) faced by winemakers\, and the innovations being practiced in order to keep the wine flowing. We will serve a range of food made using Greenhouse favourites to accompany the wines. \nWith a line-up of UK and European sustainable\, natural and organic wines\, expect a sample of the best for planet and palate! \nBook here \nAll profits from this event will go towards our educational work and garden volunteering programme.

Whether you are new to meditation and mindfulness or a practitioner who wants to deepen their practice. If you love nature you’ll love this workshop. \nThe workshop will be led by Deepti Sastry \nTickets are Pay What You Can (recommended price £35) \nBOOK HERE
