Live performances from singer songwriters (and Brockfest performers) Eva Witney and Betty Ablett on piano in the exhibition room.\n\nThe 5 easel displays built especially for the photo exhibition will be donated to The Hall afterwards\, as a platform for other community groups to tell their stories.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses for a cosy\, intimate evening of music inspired by the natural world\, as Alice Boyd launches her second EP\, Cloud Walking. As the night draws in\, gather for an atmospheric performance bringing the sounds of the mountains to Brockwell park. This twilight gig will offer a moment of warmth and reflection as we head into winter\, exploring connection to landscape and the art of slowing down. \nAlice Boyd is a singer-songwriter and sound artist based in South London. Her music intertwines folk-inspired harmonies\, ambient electronics and field recordings to ponder the intersection of human life and the landscapes we call home. \nFor this early evening gig\, Alice and her band will present her second EP Cloud Walking\, inspired by a journey into Scotland’s Cairngorm mountains. In September 2023\, Alice Boyd and eight other women retraced the footsteps of pioneering Scottish nature writer Nan Shepherd. Over four days\, they hiked\, camped and faced the elements\, drawing inspiration and solace from the landscape and Shepherd’s writing. \nAlice will be joined by her band Daisy Russell and Jacob Norris for this performance. DESCRIPTION:“Buried British treasure\, they deserve to be discovered” – The Independent \nLegendary UK & South London Alt Country\, folk roots and Americana band Hank Dogs are finally set to release their long-awaited third album as they play HHMF in the wonderful surroundings of Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses. Their first two albums were produced by Joe Boyd (Nick Drake\, John Martin\, Fairport Convention…) The album will be on sale at the gig. \nAndy has been running The Easycome Acoustic Club in South London for over 30 years\, it remains one of the longest running clubs in London. \nHank Dogs – Andy Allan\, Piano and Lily Ramona – started out at folk clubs in London in the early 1990s becoming a vital part of the British modern folk scene. In 1998 they went worlwide when Nick Drake’s legendary producer Joe Boyd declared them the first British act he’d loved in 30 years. \nTheir debut album ‘Bareback’ saw them touring the US with Joan Baez and winning fans with their quiet\, haunting sound featuring ethereal vocal harmonies\, strong traces of blues and Celtic music and Allan’s fluid acoustic finger-picking recalling UK folk guitarists John Renbourn and Bert Jansch. \nA follow-up ‘Half Smile’ appeared in 2002 but then when Andy and Piano split so did the band. \nLuckily a 3rd unreleased album ‘Fiveways’ had been recorded before they went their separate ways and now it’s finally seeing the light of day on independent label Scratchy in October this year. DESCRIPTION:The Big Swing Band is based in Camberwell and has been entertaining audiences in the area and beyond since 1982.  They play a mixture of classic\, swing and modern big band charts including repertoire written especially for the band.  They are led by alto saxophonist Alan English and have the standard 5-4-4-4 line up. \nThis event (Fest Event #6) is one of our 3 first Sunday events and is organised and co-hosted by volunteer-run charity Friends of Ruskin Park. The Friends work to ensure the park (managed by Lambeth Council) is well cared for and maintained\, and has a planned and healthy future.
