News from Brixton and Norwood Foodbank

Support for dog owners in Herne Hill and Dulwich

Hello, I'm Sarah and I've recently registered to become an Underdog Unity volunteer. Underdog aims to provide volunteers to support dog owners in need due to the impacts of coronavirus.
I can help with activities such as walking your dog, shopping for food and supplies, taking dogs to the vets and even caring for dogs for extended periods of time.

Let's Make Herne Hill Bloomin' Lovely!

Herne Hill Forum has been busy already this year doing what we can to spruce up some of our neglected green patches - removing damaged planters, clearing out weeds from tree beds and sowing meadow seed.

We are now pleased to have the opportunity to build some new planters in conjunction with Freshview, and we're looking for volunteers to help build them!

Volunteer Group Facilitator

Link Age Southwark is a vibrant local charity with an impressive track record of supporting older people to thrive in later life. We currently supportover 600 isolated, older people in the London Borough of Southwark. We recruit and train volunteers to visit older people in their homes, and organise activity groups in supported housing and community centres. We support older people who are lonely – people who live alone without family, who may have been recently bereaved or have mobility issues which stop them leaving the home independently.

They distribute items to organisations including homeless shelters, disaster relief, drug rehabilitation, and refugee centres.
