Plane tree pruning on Ardbeg Road 19th March 2020

A small team of volunteers from Herne Hill Tree Watch, a local group working to help street trees flourish in the neighbourhood, will be coming to Ardbeg Road SE24 on the morning of Thursday March 19th to prune back unwanted growths on the London plane trees.

Most of the planes on the street have long, thick suckers coming up from the roots and epicormic shoots near the base of the trunk (a tangle of branches coming out from large burrs).

These can interfere with pedestrians and with drivers trying to park their cars and can also affect the health of the tree.

Empty Tree Pits Seeking New Companions in 2020

Is there a tree pit on your street looking empty and unloved this year? Would you like to pair it with a new friend, and keep it well-tended and watered? Herne Hill Forum have met with our local Tree Officer, who has a number of trees at his disposal to plant in the area this year.
