Railton Road Shops and the Arch Co: July 2019 update

Herne Hill Forum have received the following statement from the Arch Co regarding the occupied and unoccupied Railton Rd arch units.

Their statement is published in full below:

"We have been having ongoing conversations with our tenant who operates a coffee shop in Herne Hill Station Passageway and are pleased to be able to let him continue beyond the last day of his current lease (7 July), in order to give him time to plan the future of his business. Mustapha will continue to serve his popular coffee and snacks during this period.

Railton Road Shops: Update

Many of you have asked the Forum what we know about the refurbished units on Railton Road - when will they be finished, when will they be let, will they be independent shops or chains, do they have electricity or running water?

We've been saying that as soon as we know more, we'll share it - and Forum committee members and local Railton Road traders have now had the chance to meet with the Arch Company and put questions to them, so we wanted to extend the opportunity to the rest of the Herne Hill residents. We've included here the update from the Arch Company, below:

Open letter to Green Party councillor Becca Thackray

Dear Councillor Thackeray

Your leaflet has just been posted through my door, and I was surprised to read in it that you have asked the council to to introduce a car exclusion zone around the school my kids attend - Jessop Primary.

You say this comes from you meeting with parents, which is where I am puzzled. Perhaps some parents would support an exclusion zone, perhaps others would not. The point is neither you nor I know, because we haven’t asked them!

Flower Power

With the support of the community, a 1,600+ petition and the joint intervention of the Green and Labour Councillors for Herne Hill, Network Rail has been persuaded to site its new electricity sub-station somewhere other than Elaine Partleton’s small flower shop in the heart of Station Square.
