The two most ambitious projects in this years Herne Hill Music Festival came about through collaborations, in one case between composers, choreographers and players, and in the other between a composer and a story writer.

Herne Hill Music Fest: Koruso! Choir/London Consorts of Winds tix now on sale!

Tickets now on sale for Koruso! Community Choir with London Consorts of Winds, Sun Oct 13th, St Faith's Church, SE24 9JQ. Koruso! means chorus in Esperanto and is the Southwark Community Choir, a self-run group with a wide-ranging repertoire and performs music that bridges cultures. Since its creation in 2008, Koruso! has won awards and performs at a variety of venues across its home borough and beyond. The London Consorts of Winds are a group of about 30 amateur brass and woodwind players based in South London playing in three separate ensembles. LCW will focus on Ancient & Modern music for this performance.

Koruso! Community Choir (@korusosouthwark) & London Consorts of Winds take turns for a special family concert on Sun Oct 13 (4-6pm) as part of the #HerneHillMusicFestival, St Faith's Church in Red Post Hill SE24 9JQ.

Koruso! began in Oct '08 as a Southwark Council initiative to promote community cohesion. Members come from all walks of life and all across Southwark. The London Consorts of Winds are a group of wind instrument ensembles and are sometimes called the Ancient and Modern Consort because LCW plays new music and especially arranged early music. In this concert the ensemble will perform a wide variety of engaging pieces from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Sunday 9th September 2012 - 11:00am - 3:00pm: to publicise the Herne Hill Music Festival, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Herne Hill Station, and to entertain visitors at the Herne Hill Sunday Market, there'll be a FREE continuous supply of entertaining music provided by a range of wind and folk ensemble. 3 ensembles lined up for certain - The Ingham Swing Ensemble, London Consorts of Winds, and The Hobos (folk trio). Two more ensembles still TBC; plus Pullens has joined Brockwell Arts and JazzOnTheHill in sponsorship. Hooray!
