Diamond Jive finalist in Best London Vintage awards

 

 

The Diamond Jive Club are a collection of local Rock N Roll enthusiasts who teach jive/rock n roll classes at the Prince Regent on a Monday night and put on monthly clubs on the second Friday of the month at the Railway in Tulse Hill. They have recently been nominated as one of four finalists for 'the Best London vintage event' in the Vintage Guide to London 'BEST OF 2013'! Now they need your vote to win. Tickets now on sale for Opera At Home's production of Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio (1781) which will be staged on 12th October at the Half Moon for the Herne Hill Music Festival. This rendition is set in a distorted present time. Personal freedom, the control over female sexuality and the tyranny of love appear as recurrent themes through the opera, with a delightful surprise end turning around our preconceptions. Lambeth Country Show back on in July - 20th/21st

After last year's near-cancellation then late staging, the Country Show is back to its usual July slot! Huzzah! Brockwell Park, July 20-21. May the sun shine upon us!

Tickets are now on sale for Opera At Home's production of Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, (1781) which will be staged on 12th October at the Half Moon. This rendition of The Abduction is set in a distorted present time. Personal freedom, the control over female sexuality and the tyranny of love appear as recurrent themes through the opera, with a delightful surprise end turning around our preconceptions. There will be a chance for local people to take part, and two training workshops will be organised. Extra HH Music Festival Bandstand Day - Update!

The Herne Hill Forum have agreed to fund shortfall in money for the bandstand music schedule, so HH Music Fest can now also put on music for Sunday, September 1st. Great stuff! HHFM MD Alan Taylor has been in touch with the Crystal Palace Brass Band about appearing and will be asking them to confirm for this date. Support acts in the works.




Dog parking - where would you like it to be?

A local resident (@drewcreative) has suggested that there be more dog parking hooks installed around Herne Hill. 

If we can raise the funds for these where would you like them to be installed?

Young JazzFactor @ Herne Hill Music Fest starts in July!

Alongside JazzFactor we're also putting on Young JazzFactor this year ... so if you're under 18 and play jazz, are a soloist or a band or anything in-between, enter the competition!

The First Round takes place Sat July 13th from 3-5pm @ St Saviour's Hall, Herne Hill Road, SE24. Come along, perform your best stuff, and win yourself a place in the Semi-Finals! Decisions will be made by a panel of experts plus an audience vote – so bring along your friends too!
