John Ruskin-themed events tonight & tomorrow for Herne Hill Music Festival!

For the next two evenings, Herne Hill Music Festival is all about John Ruskin, former Herne Hill resident and sage of South London. The Festival marks the bicentenary of his birth in 1819 (died 1900) with two Ruskin-themed performances on consecutive nights for #FestDay6 and #FestDay7, both sponsored by The Herne Hill Society.

Herne Hill Music Festival is crowdfunding for its 2019 Ruskin bi-centenary musical!

In this bi-centenary year of Herne Hill resident John Ruskin, Herne Hill Music Festival hopes to include a musical based on Ruskin’s only play in its programme. Composer Paul Ayres plans to turn The King of the Golden River by Ruskin into a musical to be performed by St Saviour’s Primary School. However, we need to pay a fee to a professional composer like Paul, and there other costs of the production as well. We have had generous support from the Herne Hill Society and our other business sponsors, but we are still short of £350.

From cabaret to Indian classical and beyond - Herne Hill Music Festival tickets now on sale!

DANCE

The two most ambitious projects in this years Herne Hill Music Festival came about through collaborations, in one case between composers, choreographers and players, and in the other between a composer and a story writer.
