Tackle reckless drivers on Half Moon Lane with a speed gun

Are you worried about speeding and dangerous driving on Half Moon Lane? Come and join in a Community Roadwatch there on Wednesday, November 21. You'll get the chance to work alongside a local police team and learn how to handle a speed gun to identify reckless road users.

The group will be meeting at the Village Way junction with Half Moon Lane at 2pm before moving to a suitable spot nearby to use the equipment. The session will last two hours, breaking up at 4pm. 

International Dylan Day - 14 May

Celebrating International Dylan Day on Monday 14 May, the workshop at the Half Moon in Herne Hill becomes The Sailors’ Arms in Llareggub for the evening, as Martin Oelbermann performs ‘Under Milk Wood’ by Dylan Thomas. The event starts at 7.30pm, and entry is free.

Half Moon Lane traders flooded out again

This morning traders in Half Moon Lane woke up to yet another flood. Duo Dance, the Newsagents, Oxfam and other nearby shops were all affected. The basements were flooded and stock and equipment damaged.

It appears to be a leaking sewer and Thames Water are investigating.

It is not the first time that Thames Water have been involved with water damage to Herne Hill traders and residents.

Half Moon Planning application submitted by Fullers

Planning documents (16/AP/0167 & 16/AP/0168) for the Half Moon Pub were submitted by Fuller, Smith and Turner Plc to Southwark Council on 18 January 2016. They show that kitchen and restaurant areas to the rear of the ground floor are proposed in place of the previous live music area. The deadline for comments (Standard Consultation Expiry Date) is Thursday 11 February 2016.

Half Moon set to reopen in 2016

On  Monday (4 January), The Dulwich Estate confirmed that they have signed a lease on the Half Moon with pub operator Fuller Smith & Turner Plc (Fullers). Fullers aim to reopen the pub, complete with a small number of hotel bedrooms, in the late summer 2016 subject to gaining relevant planning and listed building consents.

In December 2015, the Half Moon was made an Asset of Community Value (ACV) by Southwark Council.

Campaigners working to reopen the Half Moon Pub as a grassroots music venue made a significant step forward with week, with the news that the nomination to Southwark Council to make the pub an Asset of Community Value (ACV) has been successful.

Cafe Prov fundraiser down to the last!

The good news is that Cafe Provencal owner Adam Shipley has a meeting with Thames Water tomorrow. The bad news is that there aren't any assurances and Cafe Prov's fundraiser is well shy of target with just a couple of days left. Posting on social media a short time ago, Adam wrote:

Turkish TV features segment about HHFM Mozart opera

Nicely shot Turkish TV report about the Herne Hill Music Festival's Mozart opera 'Abduction from the Seraglio' which was performed at Methodist Hall on Half Moon Lane in October by Opera at Home @OperaHome. In Turkish but most interviews are in English.
