Elephant and the Nun

Aquarius Festival Update • New 'Festival Folly' stage

We've already mentioned Nunhead is the place this weekend and here's more detail about the Saturday leg of Elephant & the Nun proceedings at the Aquarius Golfclub in Nunhead/Honor Oak. We caught up with Aquarius Festival organiser Brian Towell last night for the latest details.

Brian's aim as organiser is to build the Aquarius Festival into one of the premium annual live music events in South East London, and this year it looks like he’s getting there. In addition to The Goose Is Out's folk showcase in the clubhouse, he is excited about the new ‘Festival Folly’ stage on the fairway, with its stunning views across London’s skyline, which will be featuring a full afternoon and evening of both local and more national musical talent. The line-up starts at 1.00pm with local favourites The Hobos, followed by local hero Felix Glenn, who is the founder of Felix School of Rock (fsor.org.uk), with a set that will showcase one of the FSOR young bands, The Otherside.

Nunhead's the place this weekend Sept 1st & 2nd (Herne Hill's the place next ... 8th & 9th!)

Sorry for this very long news post - but too much to mention and all last gasp!

Herne Hill straddles Lambeth AND Southwark, so here's info about a festival next weekend in Nunhead, which is turning out to be a hotspot for arts, crafts and grassroots music.

Part of Southwark's Elephant & the Nun weekender (billed as "A free family festival like no other" offering 9 events in 9 spaces in 2 days), the 'Nunhead Experience' will happen SUNDAY Sept 2nd. It'll be a largely bicycle-powered arts & crafts fest, reminiscent of the alt energy ethos HH had at the Urban Green Fair in Brockwell Park (remember the solar powered cinema?) which last we looked is dead and gone. On SATURDAY the 1st it is the Aquarius Festival at the Aquarius Golf Links, on the Nunhead/Honor Oak border.
