On the one hand the upcoming extension to the East London Line to Clapham Junction, with up to four services an hour, will give Denamrk Hill Sation services a huge boost. On the other hand, however, despite much lobbying, the trains won't stop at Brixton and, of course won't serve Victoria.
Scribe wonders whether the present Victoria - Denmark Hill - London Bridge service is seen by TfL planners as less important than we users imagine, since service is half-hourly and often with four and even the odd two-car trains. The London Bridge part of the route is certain to go, as things stand.
There is talk of long-distance Victoria - Kent services stopping at Denmark Hill at peak times, but one wonders how many people could get on such trains, which are already often overcrowded.
The saga continues.........
While train companies seek to add extra capacity to their services by introducing ten car trains, Herne Hill Station is just too tight to accommodate a further two cars. Eight car will remain the maximum.
