Brockwell Water Polo Evening

Brockwell Water Polo Evening
Tuesday 7th July 8pm

Brockwell Swimmers are holding a fun Water Polo Evening at Brockwell Lido on Tuesday 7th July, 8pm to 9pm. The emphasis will be very much on fun, rather than competition and all ages and swimming abilities are welcome.

Goals, Balls and Hats are kindly being loaned from the Croydon and Guildford Water Polo clubs, who will also teach us the basics of the sport. Once we've got to grips with that we'll then have a go at playing some games. Prizes for the winning team.

Grand Budapest Hotel Screening

As part of the programme for this year's Herne Hill Free Film Festival, The Grand Budapest Hotel was screened at Brockwell Park Lido on the 9th May.

Fancy trying Water Polo?

Brockwell Swimmers have been offered the loan of some Water Polo equipment from an ASA member who is keen to publicise the sport. This includes 2 goals, balls, those lovely hats and an explanation of the rules. Could be a laugh.

The evening slot would include a simple 10 minute introduction to water polo technique, then games of around 5 minutes each. There would be 7 players in the water, including the goalie, from a squad of 13. We need a minimum of 16 people, but ideally 25 or more so that players can rotate and rest between games.

May Madness in Herne Hill Market & Brockwell Lido!

Kicking on from Herne Hill Free Film Festival's launch screening of The Ladykillers in the Square on Friday night, all sorts were on for May Bank Holiday Sunday (the 3rd) in Herne Hill Market and Brockwell Lido! A maypole, town crier, crab dressing class, plus lots of music even before the sun came out for good. Over at the Lido, it was Day 2 of the Modern Movement, organised by Moses Otunla of Bleu Furniture.

Films at the Lido this Summer

There is a wonderful range of films being shown this year at the Lido, both ticketed and free...

Saturday 9th May 8:30pm Grand Hotel Budapest (2014, 15, 100mins)

This typically stylish but deceptively thoughtful Wes Anderson’s film follows the adventures of the decidedly quirky hotelier Gustav H and lobby boy Zero, who becomes his partner in crime - literally.

Places limited and FREE so get there early.
