Herne Hill Music Festival Super Sunday - 4 events with 3 in the Park!

After leading with music from Opal Flutes in Carnegie Library and a Youth Jazz Showcase at St Saviour's, Herne Hill Music Festival's Saturday finished with a well-attended recital from the Belvil Trio at St Faith's to benefit international development charity Practical Action.

 

Now it's time for Super Sunday - which means four events in one day, two free and two ticketed, with the first three in Brockwell Park, on Oct. 12th. Events begin with chamber choir The Friends' Musick's 'Noonday Serenade' (11:30-12:30) and founder member Annie Bright urges everyone to come up to Brockwell Hall to join her for some madrigals, rounds and audience participation! Plus some great views. We spoke with Annie at the Carnegie Library on Saturday afternoon after Opal Flutes' lunchtime concert - while the the flautists were packing up. See video below.

 

New for HHMF in 2014: Brockwell Park Music

 

Music in Brockwell Park is a new feature of Herne Hill Music Festival in 2014 with 3 performances in 3 different places at different times, all on October 12th. Two of these are ticketed and one is free!

11:45am-12:45pm
The Friends' Musick chamber choir presents a programme of madrigals, rounds and part-songs ranging from the 16th to the 20th century, with some audience participation in Brockwell Hall, £5/3

 

1:30-2:30pm
The Lambeth Wind Orchestra performs a FREE concert of bandstand music in the performance space at Brockwell Hall - from light music to classical favourites and original works by London-based performers.

 

Herne Hill Music Fest/Herne Hill Market Bandstand No. 2 this Sun Sept 8th!

 

The Herne Hill Music Festival presents its second free Bandstand event in as many weeks for Herne Hill's Sunday Market, Sept 8th, from 11-3pm. Outside Herne Hill Station in Railton Rd SE24 0JN. Three acts with the headliner on stage for two turns.

12 noon The Ben Croft Trio

1pm Lambeth Wind Orchestra

2pm Dee Dee's Collective

 

Lambeth Wind Orchestra is a concert band of around 40 members based in Herne Hill. LWO perform on bandstands around London, and concert programmes have included music by Holst, Grainger and Vaughan Williams, as well as newly written pieces by London based composers. Ben Croft is a prodigy, having begun his musical career aged 7. Over the last 10 years he has mostly been based in the US and has performed with artists such as Belinda Carlisle, The Temptations and the Platters. The Dee Dee's Collective is an ensemble based out of Dee Dee's Cafe and Jazz Bar on Herne Hill. DC is our wildcard on the day: anything goes!
