The course is based on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme.   Mindfulness meditation practices can help to focus awareness, cultivate calmness and develop non-judgemental acceptance.  They have been shown to be helpful in promoting general wellbeing and in easing the suffering of a wide range of problems including high blood pressure, headaches, chronic pain, heart disease, a tendency to depression, sleep disturbance, anxiety, panic and skin disorders.  


The course will cover: 

The nature of mindfulness meditation and its relevance to stress, anxiety and physical difficulties

Developing awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviours

Identifying different habits of mind

A variety of formal and informal meditation practices

The importance and helpfulness of acceptance


Courses are run over 8 weeks, one evening a week.  The next one starts on January 11th 2012 at St Faith's Centre Red Post Hill


Also there is a taster evening on Monday 21st November 2011   7 - 9.30 pm  at  Brockwell Lido
