The Clinic London

Acupuncture, Massage, Trigger Point Therapy

Sandra Bufano Bsc (Hons) MBAcC Acupuncture & Massage

I am a registered and fully insured Acupuncturist, member of the British Acupuncture Council (M.N.959943).

I practice at the Health Hub in Herne Hill, 282 Milkwood Rd SE24 0EZ, under the railways arches and from Elmcourt Pharmacy in Tulse Hill, 220 Norwood Rd SE27 9AQ.

For the past few years I have been collaborating with St Mungo's Broadway running a clinic providing massage and acupuncture in support of people with addiction and homeless issues. In addition to my private practice, have also been working in care homes to support older people with a variety of issues, from anxiety to stop smoking.

My treatments, depending on the patient needs, can be a combination of Acupuncture, Electro Acupuncture, Tui Na Massage and Trigger PointsTherapy.

Particularly in the treatment of musculo-skeletal issues, I use Myofascial realise or Trigger Points Therapy in combination with Acupuncture and/or Massage.  These  problems, may be derived from sport related conditions as shin splints, Achilles tendon pain and stiffness or runners knee or may conditions as arthritic pain, sciatica and tennis elbow, that have different aetiology.

Acupuncture is recommended by NICE for back pain and by the World Health Organisation for headaches and nausea. It is also successfully used in fertility treatments. My area of interest include:

Pain management, back pain, knee pain, sciatica, arthritis, headaches, migraines

Menstrual disorders, period pain and infertility

Stress, anxiety, depression and emotional well being

Stop smoking and addictions

Finally, a word of encouragement for all of you who are considering acupuncture but the idea of been needled makes you immediately consider other options, let me say that acupuncture is not painful! The needles are so fine that you will hardly feel them!  But then, we are looking for a sensation, for the Chinese is Qi or life energy.   Is generally agreed that the therapeutic value of acupuncture is in this sensation. This feeling, can be a number of things, for some is a tingling, for some is a dull ache, sometimes there a bit of pain and sometimes there is nothing! ...all of it, will disappear within the first few seconds and most times is missed altogether, unless one is  really looking for it!  The process will  aid you to complete relaxation which in itself is a benefit!
