LCC @ Max Roach is a safe place in Brixton where all members of the local community can come together to learn, thrive and succeed. Through meaningful activities, LCC supports and enables local children, young people and residents living in poverty, and with other disadvantages. LCC runs Rosebuds Preschool (2–4 yrs), Holiday Play Project (0-13 yrs) and LEAP Community Engagement (0-3 yrs).

We also support families and young people to improve their emotional/mental health.

LCC was established in 1981 by local Loughborough estate tenants, to help improve the lives of local people. We are led by our values:

Role Description 

We are looking for someone with experience designing and building websites, and revamping our current website https://lccmaxroach.co.uk

  • Strong design capabilities, working based off Trustee and Manager’s inputs,
  • Updating of webpage linked with social media platforms on a regular basis,
  • Setting up one-off and recurring donations,
  • This is a volunteered position,

HR Trustee 

Role description

We also support families and young people to improve their emotional/mental health. We are currently looking for a new Trustee with a background in HR to join our friendly board.

Your skills and experience will make an important contribution to the strategic and operational plans of the organisation.

Role summary 

  • Assessing risks and measuring the impact of HR interventions in light of changing legal requirements and best practice.
  • Review the current handbook and contracts of 7 members of staff.
  • Review and recommend current and future strategic resourcing, training and development and annual budgets and plans to the trustee board.
  • To actively contribute to policy setting, strategic direction, goal and target setting, and evaluate performance against targets, budgets, plans and charitable objectives.
  • To ensure that HR activities and interventions are linked to the company’s charitable objectives and complement the company culture.
  • To monitor the financial position of the charity and its operations within its means and objects, making sure that there are clear lines of accountability for day-to-day financial management.
  • Monitor whether the service complies with its governing document and standards and if the needs of the beneficiaries are being met.

Personal description

Essential:

  • Experience of HR/employment law issues and implementing them contextually. 
  • Willingness to actively participate in discussions concerning needs of company’s beneficiaries, staff and the trustee board.
  • Experience in these areas: financial management, social media, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Experience of charity law and governance desirable but not essential

Time commitment:

The Board meets once a month. The trustee is expected to commit at least 3 to 5 hours a month, which includes board meetings and participation.
