Update on Crown & Greyhound Reopening Date

Following message received from M&B:

Dear Mr. Thomas,

It’s with a great deal of frustration that I write to you to inform you that there has been a further delay to the opening of the Crown & Greyhound. The opening day is now set to be in the week commencing Monday 16th January 2017. I fully understand how disappointing this news will be to you and I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The problem is that we have still not had the building handed back over to us to start our work. I went to the building site the other day and as I’m sure you see on a daily basis it’s still very much just that – a building site. The frustration our end is increased by the fact that recruitment and appointments have already been made as we were building up to the opening. With that in mind I thought that I would take this opportunity to introduce you to Brian Gallagher, who you may already know. Brian will be the GM of the Crown & Greyhound when it does reopen. Brian is currently GM at the Plough in East Dulwich where he has done great things with that business. He has said that he is available to meet up to discuss things with you. I’ve cc’d him here so do get in touch with him if you’d like to do so.

I would love to say that this new date is set in stone but having had my fingers burned twice I won’t go in for a third. As long as we get the building back in time then we are all set to fulfil our responsibilities and finally give Dulwich back this brilliant business. We’ve let the Dulwich Society know already and will be contacting other groups to ensure that the locals are kept up to date with progress. Please let me know if you have any other questions at this time and again, I’m sorry to bring you this news.

Kind regards,

Greg Stern
