The following statement has been issued by the metropolitan Police regarding the stabbing that took place on Thursday evening/Friday monrning in Herne Hill:
On Friday, April 6, at approximately 00:30, police were called to a report of a stabbing in Dulwich Road, SE24.
A member of the public had been approached in nearby Railton Road by a man who had suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck. On arrival, officers traced the stabbing to a scene in Dulwich Road.
There were two apparent blood trails, leading police to suspect there might be a second injured party. The victim was taken to hospital where his condition was deemed to be serious, but not life threatening or life changing following surgery.
While the victim was being treated at the hospital, a second man arrived with a stab wound to his chest. He was accompanied by a man who was wearing a stab vest and was covered in blood.
Officers linked the two incidents following investigation and both of the men were arrested. There may be further links between this incident and a fight in East Dulwich Road, but this is unconfirmed at present.
