Public Meeting leads to demands for more information and longer consultation on proposed Brockwell Park Festivals
Thank you to the 300+ attendees that joined us on Thursday 18th January at the Herne Hill Forum Public Meeting about the proposed festivals in Brockwell Park this summer. It was a lively and engaging event – with numerous views and wide ranging perspectives. Possibly the only area of consensus from the evening is the need for a further extended consultation period, based on more detailed information to be provided by Lambeth Council.
In attendance last night, Helen Hayes, MP for Dulwich and West Norwood, commented, “I support calls for a further extension to the consultation period so that residents can consider more detailed information as it becomes available.”
Herne Hill Forum recommendations following the meeting:
- It was apparent that there was information that was not available in the public domain and that should be released as soon as possible
- In addition, there were a number of areas that had not been researched in terms of risk and impact assessments which needs undertaking
- In order to avoid a potential disaster with major events being given the go-ahead without the background work and due diligence being done, Lambeth Council needs more time and resources to carry out this work, in conjunciton with the local community
As more details from the council becomes available, we will keep the community updated and informed through the Herne Hill Forum website.
