No Burgess Park Carnaval Pueblo again but other Fiestas on offer!

No @CarnavalPueblo this year in Burgess Park for the 2nd year running, but no worries there are other fiestas happening locally!

A stripped-down version of Carnaval Del Pueblo is scheduled for the Coronet in Elephant & Castle (28 New Kent Rd, SE1 6TJ) on August 11th featuring performances and workshops. Headliners include Los Niños Vallenatos from Colombia, an 11-piece Colombian accordion band made up of 10 to 19 year olds; Cumbe, with Afro-Caribbean sounds from the Pacific Coast of Colombia; and Atlachinolli Dance, a pre-hispanic Mexico inspired dance group. More info about other acts on, workshops and tickets: http://carnavaldelpueblo.com

It's also Fiesta time @HornimanMuseum with Fiesta Latina ongoing through Sept 1st with festivals, dance, music, free bandstand concerts, film screenings and the family exhibition Amazon Adventure: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches.

Don't miss Latin Late at the Horniman, Friday, August 16th, from 6pm - 9pm, throughout the Museum. It'll be a night of Latin American music and performances: Colombian circus, Mexican storytelling, Argentinean tango workshops and demonstrations, Chilean film screenings, Latin music, talks and much more. There will also be live music from Majagua for a musical journey through Latin American folklore, with a mix of Cuban son, Bolivian carnavalitos, Venezuelan joropos, Mexican corridos and Colombian cumbia. 3 sets - 6-6:40pm, 7-7:40pm & 8-8:40pm. The Horniman Café will be open late too so you can try out some Latin street food and cocktails out in the gardens.

A big Latin fiesta in the Horniman Gardens will close the Fiesta summer programme on 1st Sept featuring carnival performances from Brazil, Argentinean tango, brass bands from Mexico, and dance music from Peru and Colombia. More details closer to the date here, or go to:
