Let's Make Herne Hill Bloomin' Lovely!

Herne Hill Forum has been busy already this year doing what we can to spruce up some of our neglected green patches - removing damaged planters, clearing out weeds from tree beds and sowing meadow seed.

We are now pleased to have the opportunity to build some new planters in conjunction with Freshview, and we're looking for volunteers to help build them!

There will be two weekday sessions, Wednesday 15th May and Monday 20th May, from 9.30 - 13.30, and the tasks will include: cutting planks, drilling scaffolding planks together to make the planters, painting with wood stain / preserver, lining with plastic, putting in soil, potting up existing plants from old planters, dismantling of old planters and moving wood into a pile, putting old soil in bags, sweeping up the mess!

All the gear will be provided, although if anyone has a cordless drill / screwdriver then that would be welcome too....

Please note this is fairly tough physical work, so only volunteer if you feel comfortable doing this kind of work, and wear old clothes as it could get messy. Herne Hill Forum will make sure that volunteers are kept fuelled by tea, coffee and biscuits, but to save us buying plastic bottles, please do bring your own water bottle if you are able to (you'll be able to refill it at the kitchen in Station Hall).

Email us on volunteering@hernehillforum.org.uk and we will be in touch.
