Helping the Homeless in South London
We know that at this time of year, many Herne Hillians want to know how they can best support local charities who are working to support the homeless in South London over the winter.
We also know that many of the charities are too busy doing their actual good work to always have time to reach out to the local community - so we thought we'd help them out by highlighting some of the local places you can donate to:
Spires (http://www.spires.org.uk/) are based in Streatham and will be able to take in donations of clothes, food and toiletries. This will enable them to:
- provide their clients with a hot meal
- provide their clients with food parcel
- offer each client a hot shower and a change of clothes or underwear.
Donations can be dropped off at their centre between Monday to Friday 8.30am -4pm.
Address: 8 Tooting Bec Gardens, London, SW16 1RB.
If you would like to donate any item or gift, or would like guidance about what to donate, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call them on 0208 696 0943.
Brixton Soup Kitchen can also take donations of food, clothing and toiletries. To donate food items, please ensure that they are non-perishable goods. For items such as toiletries and clothes, please ensure that are in good condition. Before donating at the Soup Kitchen please email email@example.com
You can also donate to them online here: https://gogetfunding.com/bsk-fundraising/
Emmaus in West Norwood can also take donations of all kinds of goods, more information here: https://www.emmaus.org.uk/lambeth/shops_and_services/donate_goods_to_emm...
We hope to have information from the Salvation Army soon as well. If any other local groups are collecting donations of warm clothes, toiletries, etc in the run up to Christmas, please do contact us and we can share the information on here and on social media - contact firstname.lastname@example.org
