Have you heard of The Bigger Picture Film Club? Do you want to go bowling?
The Bigger Picture Film Club was formed by a group of volunteers in 2012 to screen great films once a month, upstairs in the comfortable surroundings of the East Dulwich Tavern. Here you can relax with a drink from the upstairs bar and enjoy special themed menus. As well as free film notes and a free raffle, the film is often intriduced by actors, critics, lecturers or artists. The next 2 films we are putting on are at the bottom of this post.
There are 8 of us running The Bigger Picture and we do it to raise money for local charities, to provide a service for the local community, and for fun. Mainly for fun.
We are supported by Rye Books and Push Studios who give us raffle prizes every month, and the EDT donates the premesis for nothing. In return we promote them - go along and try them out, exercise your mind, your body and your digestive system, all three businesses are great! We have given £500 to Link Age Southwark (previously Dulwich Helpline), Dog Kennel Adventure Playground, Ebony Horse Club, and lots of others.
Would anyone out there like to join us? Would you like to suggest films, promote us, find speakers - be a speaker - help with the screenings, come to our Christmas party?? You can pretty much put in what time you want, just be part of our somewhat diverse group.
Our next 2 films are 13 November: 'The Big Labowski' WITH a bowling alley in the back of the venue and a free White Russian! Come dressed appropriately.
And 19 November: 'Whiplash' the film about the relationship between an ambitious jazz student and an abusive instructor in a study of musical obsession AND Q&A with Alex Cooper, drummer of Katrina and the Waves (‘Walking on Sunshine’, ‘Love Shine a Light’ winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1997)
