Getting swim-fit for free
The Brockwell Swimmers club continues to grow with over a one hundred members. Always keen to welcome new swimmers, they have introduced a FREE trial session for their Tuesday Swim Evenings at the JAGs Sports Centre SE24 or the Sunday Water Polo at St Josephs, Beulah Hill SE19.
At JAGs the club takes two lanes, one medium and one fast, led by coach Steve Baker. These sessions teach swimmers how to improve their basic technique, including breath control, body balance, stroke count, etc, as well as drill sessions for the more experienced swimmers wanting to push themselves further.
The Water Polo sessions at St Joseph's are open to all levels of players, from complete beginners to seasoned shooters. All are coached by professional and national-league players. The one and a half hour session starts with basic skill techniques, finishing with a team match before decanting to the pub for a ‘game analysis’. Water Polo is a great team game, great exercise and a great way to meet other swimmers. The sport combines speed and strength, as well as learning new skills and a high level of fitness.
