Get ready to go Wild this Summer
Brockwell Swimmers launch their 2019 Open Water Swimming Calendar with a special seminar from coach Steve Baker.
As sea and river temperatures climb with the approach of Spring, Brockwell Swimmers is offering an Introduction to Open Water to help members get ready for wild swimming peak season. Join them on Sunday 31st March, 11am-12pm at The Prince Regent pub (opposite Brockwell Lido) to get top tips and tuition from seasoned swimmer and professional coach Steve Baker. Tickets are £5 per person and the booking deadline is Tuesday 26th March. To book click here or go to their Shopping/Swim Sessions page.
Coach Steve has swum all his life, is a national gold medalist, has personally completed the Henley 15km open water swim and also includes in his credentials being the only person in the UK to have won the British Water Polo Championship as both a player and coach. He will deliver no doubt a lively presentation with advice on how to prepare for the longer distances and colder temperatures of open water swimming, as well as developing crucial skills such as how to sight, navigating set courses and special stroke and breathing techniques for swimming outside of a pool.
There’s also the option to join Brockwell Swimmers for an uncoached swim at Brockwell Lido to set the scene beforehand, from 10am. Look out for Club Cap wearers. If you would like to order some food from the The Prince Regent Brunch menu to enjoy during the seminar please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Attending this seminar will be the perfect introduction to joining Brockwell Swimmers on its monthly Open Water adventures. They have a jam-packed schedule including the Dorset Durdle Door Murder Mystery Weekend, the Seven Sisters in Sussex, the Isle of Wight, coastal town Aldeburgh and picturesque Arundel on the south coast.
