Festival seeks local young musician or band to join 29 act musical line-up
JOM Micro Music Festival in Brockwell Park this autumn is seeking a young musician or band to join a line-up of 29 young musical acts. The festival is a celebration of young musicians from open mic events and youth music organisations.
Festival organiser Andy Gray from JOM says, “We are looking for someone (or group) brave enough to get up on stage and present themselves to an audience of 500 and perform 1 song. They do not have to be experienced as the line-up is about showcasing a variety of performances – they just have to be between 4 and 17 years old.”
“They will get the VIP treatment – Two VIP guest passes per perfomer, a VIP tent with complimentary refreshments, two performer assistants, superb festival quality sound (the best) – and secure a place in Brockwell Park musical history alongside Erykah Badu, Lilly Allen, Elvis Costello, Four Tet, The Stranglers, Chaka Khan, Madness, The Damned, The Beat, Jamelia and Bananarama who have all previously performed in the park.”
“The 29 other young acts are already booked. We’ve left one performance slot open for anyone who has not yet heard about the festival.”
According to JOM, the large line-up of 30 acts helps secure a large, family-friendly audience of supporters. The sound engineer is one of the best in the country and the sound is Grade A festival quality. The stage includes a keyboard, full drum kit, array of guitar amps, vocal and accoustic mics and monitor speakers.
This is the second year for JOM Micro Music Festival in Brockwell Park. It is organised by a community of local parents (JOM) and supported by Brockwell Park Community Partners. Their formatting is designed to encourage young performance by making young performers feel as special as possible. JOM also organise Herne Hill’s Junior Open Mic hosted at Off The Cuff Music Bar which has grown into the largest Open Mic for young performers in the country.
Parents who’s children are interested in performing should contact Andy Gray on firstname.lastname@example.org. The festival is free to attend but voluntary donations to BPCP are encouraged.
