Carnegie Pop Up Consultation Report

Lambeth Council and GLLheld an exhibition about their plans for the Carnegie Library on 21st-22nd June.

At the same time, the local community hosted a Pop Up Carnegie Library in Ruskin Park provided reading, a book swap, craft activities, chess club, panel discussions, free cake and good conversation. Thanks to all who came along. We had a lovely time.

We also conducted a Pop Up Carnegie Consultation, since neither GLL nor Lambeth Council were willing to run any consultation of their own. The aim was to give an accurate record of local reaction to the Lambeth Council/ GLL plans. Over 200 people participated.

You can view the consultation report here: Pop Up Carnegie Consultation Report

We are continuing to press the Lambeth Council and GLL to deliver on local people's needs from the library - a safe space for children, a large range of books to borrow, and staffing by librarians.

It was also clear at the exhibition that no building/ renovation work will begin at the Carnegie Library building until the beginning of 2017. We are therefore also asking Lambeth Council to reconsider and open the library, for as many hours as possible, during the remaining half of the year.
