Brockwell Park Lottery funded project - latest update

Please see below the update from Trevor Uprichard, Lambeth's project officer to the
Project Board dated 12th November.

Water Play

The water play contract is in the process of being let and the appointed
contractor, Blakedown Landscapes (SE), is scheduled to start work on site on
the 6th December with an expected completion date of end of March /
early April 2011.  During the works the site will be fenced off and
notices to inform the public regarding progress will be posted in the
park.  At a suitable point during the works it is intended to arrange a
site visit for members of the project board and the steering group.

Main Works

A shortlist of contractors has been drawn up for the main works following a
pre-qualification exercise and tender documentation is now ready to be sent
out.  The return date for tenders will be in January 2011 with the main
works contractor expected to be appointed and ready to start works by the end
March / early April.  The completion date for the main works is still
expected to be mid 2012.

Tree Works

Tree works to remove self sets, old and diseased specimens, stumps and scrub and to
prune and reduce crowns in readiness for new plantings are expected to commence
towards the end of November and be completed by the end of February 2011
latest.  Where trees are removed they will be replaced as part of the
planting works to be undertaken under the main works contract. The tree works
are being carried out by the Lambeth term contractor for trees (Trees for
Cities) and will be supervised by LBL tree officers.

Transformation Fund Study

Following the preparation of a brief for the Transformation Fund Study which aims to
identify a sustainable future for the Hall and Stables (and to a lesser extent
the Temple building and Norwood Lodge) a proposal and cost estimate has been
submitted by Land Use Consultants.  Currently this is being progressed
through the Lambeth procurement process and when the consultant team are in
place I will confirm their appointment and forward background information on
the programme and scope of the study.
