Brockwell and Tooting Bec Lido water polo returns for 2019
Two of south London’s iconic Lidos have joined forces to host another summer of recreational water polo sessions for all ages, genders and ability levels set in scenic locations. Brockwell Lido and Tooting Bec Lido will be the homes of the sessions, hosted by South London Swimming Club. Newcomers are welcome to try it out with a FREE intro session.
The season will also contain the first-ever outdoor water polo tournament in London, welcoming teams from as far away as Cambridge and featuring involvement from ex Team GB players.
The season builds on sessions that have been taking place at Brockwell Lido since 2015 and Tooting Bec Lido since 2018. Everyone is welcome at these sessions (you must know how to swim and be able to tread water for long periods) and they are coached by one of the UK’s top coaches, Stephen Baker. They are geared to be social and fun and typically end in a visit to a nearby pub. New players are welcome to enjoy a FREE introductory session before joining.
Water polo has been described as a mixture of football, netball and rugby -- in the water! Fans of those sports who also like to swim are encouraged to give it a go and try out a FREE intro session.
