Brixton Kids' BookJam - FREE literary festival for kids - 18th October
Join the Jam-boree! And see Herne Hill's own, Tales on Moon Lane owner and author, Tamara MacFarlane!
The organisers of the Brixton BookJam are launching the Brixton Kids’ BookJam for 5-12 year olds on 18th October. Working closely with local schools, libraries and the community this is a FREE mini literature festival just for children. It will be held at Number 6 Somerleyton Road, a community space that is in the heart of Brixton.
The Kids’ BookJam will be arranged over three sets and the sessions are broadly focused on 5-7, 7-9 and 8-12 age ranges.

After each set there will be breakout workshops where kids can work with the writers to learn about their process and get creative themselves. Smart Stories, who specialise in encouraging children to be more creative and write more, will also be holding two workshops. The award-winning Tales on Moon Lane bookshop will be running a pop-up stall with the help of local children, who will be on hand to recommend their favourite books!
