Art + Walk: Brockwell Park live events this weekend
An art exhibition and a history walk - two great (and free) events in Brockwell Park this weekend, April 16-17.
"Gems of Lambeth Archives" is an exhibition of 40 great images from Lambeth Archives - the first time ever that they have been exhibited outside the Archives and one of the first exhibitions to be held in Brockwell Hall's Picture Room in a long while.
There are works from the 17th to the 21st centuries and include paintings, etchings, watercolours and photographs.
Opening hours: 10.30am to 4.30pm, Saturday and Sunday. Fully illustrated catalogue £1. Exhibition poster £5. Free guided tours at 11.30, 2.30 and 3.45.
The Exhibition was opened by the Mayor of Lambeth, Cllr Valcarcel, on Thursday night.
And on Sunday, why not combine art with walking? Visit Gems of Lambeth and go on at 2 o'clock to the annual History Walk, organised by Friends of Brockwell Park. As the walk is on the same day as the London Marathon, this year's theme is the "History of Sport in Brockwell Park": Arthur Ashe at our tennis courts, the first children's playground in the Park - and where we swum before the Lido...
Meet walk leader Peter Bradley at the Clock Tower, 2pm, Brockwell Park, rain or shine. Walk is free, but contributions to the Friends, the Park's charity, are always welcome.
