The 4th Lambeth Beavers Cubs and Scouts Need Your Help!
Luke Plowden has written into our Facebook page asking for help with expansion plans for the 4th Lambeth Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. They meet at All Saints Church, Rosendale Road in Dulwich every Wednesday in term time.
As these three groups thrive and waiting lists build, they seek people to be part of their leader team. They have a dedicated team of enthusiastic and experienced leaders, but also a huge waiting list of young people hoping to join, so more leaders are needed.
The waiting list issue has grown so large that The Guardian covered the problem with a leader article in April:
“An acute shortage of volunteers in the Scouts has resulted in tens of thousands of young people having to wait for a place. Chief Scout Bear Grylls is calling on more adults to volunteer with the organisation to help clear the longest waiting list in its history.”
The 4th Lambeth welcomes boys/girls/young people of the following ages;
Beavers: 5 3/4 - 8 years old
Cubs: 7 1/2 - 10 1/2 years old
Scouts: 10 - 14 1/2 years old
Activities range from cooking to camping, arts and crafts, outdoor games, first aid, and many more.
With respect to volunteer leaders, Luke notes that volunteering can help develop valuable skills. It’s also good fun, while for parent and carers, it’s a great way to get your kids involved. You can give as much or as little time as you like-it’s very flexible. A couple of hours a week or a month - it's all good.
"If you are able to give ANY time whatsoever it will be appreciated. Please get in touch with them. Thanks."
