Loft conversion- builder needed

Anyone know of a good private builder who does dormers and loft conversions and extensions. I don't want to go with one of the big loft companies in the area but would prefer to employ a local builder or smaller company. Thanks!

Same here - looking for a builder to do a loft conversion at a property that already has planning permission.  Has anyone had a good experience recently that they can share?

Landmark Lofts ...
Loft Conversion builder or company

Hi Fiona,

I understand you'd rather not use a specialist loft conversion company like ourselves (everyone has different preferences).  We'd be really interested to hear why you prefer to go with a local builder or smaller company.   Is it about sponsoring local businesses? Keeping costs low?

We ask this out of genuine interest so we can continue to offer the best service to our clients :)

We used Marvin of Sky High Builders for our recent loft conversion (standard box dormer to Victorian terrace).

He's South London based and we thought he was great - got a much more personalised service than my parents who use A1 Lofts (one of the big companies) the year before. You still have the usual building trade stresses but all in all we were happy with the build.

We have recently had a kitchen extension built to the rear of our Victorian terrace in SE24 by Plus Rooms. Whilst not based locally, they undertake a considerable number of projects in South London. We are very happy with the work they undertook. It has been finished to a high standard. The workmen were conscientious and (reasonably) tidy but perhaps the best aspect of the job was the professional manner in which Plus Rooms project managed the whole process. When problems arose, as they inevitably do, the appointed project manager addressed them swiftly and to our satisfaction. As can be seen from their website, they also undertake loft conversions and refurbishments. All in all, I have no hesitation in recommdendng them.

Here's their website if you're inerested:

Hello Fiona,

This is David from Central London lofts. Just wanted to check if this project is over. As already quoted by Landmark lofts, I want to know why you want to hand it over to a private builder rather than an established company like us. Just asked this out of curiosity. Anyways, if you want to check us out, you can visit

Kitchen extension recommendation

Plus Rooms ( completed our kitchen extension at the end of last year and I highly recommend them. From the start they were professional and thorough, spending a long time with us for the initial quote (which was really detailed & accurate, with any potential extras clearly stated) and then throughout the process. We had a project manager which made the whole thing manageable with a full time job! He was always happy to meet us before work as well. The work was very good, the quote competitive, and we found them really helpful and would definitely use them again!

messageRe: Kitchen extension recommendation

Plus Rooms completed my kitchen extension and I can happily recommend this company. They have a pool of reliable builders that will promptly solve difficult situations when needed even after all the extension was finished.

They where clear from the beginning and the whole project took the time expected.

I am very happy with the gable design on the roof and the amount of skylights that insisted to build in as the space is lovely and full of light.

The Management is particularly professional!
Many thx we love our new space

I know the latest builder for a loft conversion and dormer loft for the house. Raynes park construction having the very experienced worker who can build in best & reliable prices.
