Help!!! Jessops Primary School?

hi,
I live in West Dulwich and have been allocated a reception place at Jessops. The school is so far from where I live that I don't know anything about it. Does anyone know or have views on the school?

thank you... an anxious mother

HI all-

Thanks for the comments & help. I visited the school last week and was very impressed. The kids seem happy and healthy and the staf were really calm and focused. There was a group workshop with the London Philarmonic in one room, and a dub dance routine going on in another. Looks like they are making huge progress...very exciting.

Hi,

we've been given a place at Jessops, too. Their recent exam results seem to be excellent and a local mum has told us that all of her friends with kids at Jessop are really happy but I would love to get a bit more detail on this. If my understanding is right quite a few people from further away (including us) got a place there this year because they enlargened their reception facilities and were able to take on a bit of the Rosendale overspill.

Hi-

Apparently there is a school visit tomorrow (25th) at 9:30. I agree, all the reports & information on the website point to a fast improving school. I am going to visit and see how it feels inside and what ethos the headteacher has.

Best

As a local resident, I've noticed that a lot of work has been done to the playgrounds and the exterior which makes it look more attractive and welcoming.

I worked there for a few days. All the teacher were really good and the kids were normal, they bounced around as soon as know one was looking but if a teacher told them to do something they would. If you got lost and saw someone they would always help. I really like the feel of the school.

Hi, we live on the same road as Jessops and it was one of our choices for reception this year. My daughter has friends going there from nursery. I was very impressed with the new facilities and all the staff were very friendly. Also they are expecting a very good ofsted visit in the next few months. Hope this helps.

Hi Mumof2boys,

I'm really pleased that you were impressed when you visited Jessop.  I have been a Governor at the school for nearly 4 years and now have a son in the nursery.  I agree that the school has a really exciting feel, which I think comes from the fact that it has improved so rapidly under the current leadership.  But don't take my word for it.  Ofsted have just inspected the school and judged it OUTSTANDING.  You can read the report here: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/100572

I look forward to seeing you in the playground in September.

Hi!

I am in the same situation that you "momof2boys" were around one year ago. My 6 year old daughter is going to Jessop next september And I know nothing about the school... what would you say about it now? Thank you. Anxious mother too!

Hi there  My 6 year old son has been at Jessops since Reception and about to go into Year 2. He is  very happy there, and we have found that the teaching to be of a high standard so far - the school also encourages high standards of behaviour from the children through the Going for Gold Awards system.  Hope this helps!

Hi,

Hi,

We have been offered a place here. Can anyone who sent their child here offer any thoughts? Would be much appreciated.
