In looking at the future of large music events in Brockwell Park, it can be informative to take a look back at the past, when the Park hosted everything from reggae festivals, to a CND peace festival (headlined by Madness), to London Pride, and even a cannabis festival from 2000-2004.

It is argued that Lovebox and Field Day festivals are needed to make up for the £360,000 loss generated by the Lambeth Country Show. Could this loss be avoided?

Further details have been confirmed in a written response to Chuka Umunna MP by Lambeth Council regarding the proposals for holding the Field Day/TheMighty Hoopla (1-3 June) and Lovebox/Citadel (13-15 July) festivals in Brockwell Park in 2018.
The Committee of the Friends of Brockwell Park (FOBP), at a special meeting held on 4 December, unanimously decided to oppose applications for two major events, proposed for summer 2018, as being of a scale wholly unsuited to a small urban park such as Brockwell.
