Kicking on from Herne Hill Free Film Festival's launch screening of The Ladykillers in the Square on Friday night, all sorts were on for May Bank Holiday Sunday (the 3rd) in Herne Hill Market and Brockwell Lido! A maypole, town crier, crab dressing class, plus lots of music even before the sun came out for good.
There will be a community protest in Herne Hill at Dorchester Court tomorrow May 2nd, from 12-2. D.C. Resists (a private renters campaign group) has been set up to highlight D.C.'s landlord/freeholder Manaquel and to fight for a fair deal for tenants.
The Friends of Carnegie AGM was very well attended, with nearly 80 members present, and the meeting strongly supported the Friends campaign to keep the library open and for a professionally-run library service at the Carnegie.
